The most prestigious event in the South African sport industry returned on the 12th of February 2015, with the Discovery Sport Industry Awards taking place at the Sandton Convention Centre. The Discovery Sport Industry Awards ceremony was once again a huge success and attracted more than 1,200 guests, including sportsmen and celebrities such as Lucas Radebe, John Smit, Bruce Fordyce, Barry Richards, Jacques Kallis, Graeme Smith, Cameron van der Burgh, Kerry McGregor, Amanda Dlamini, Roxy Louw, Penny Heyns, Mark Fish, Natalie Du Toit and many more.

13 prestigious awards were given and the judging panel consisted of some of the industries finest, including the likes of Bob Skinstad, Bronwyn Roets and David O’Sullivan.

“Discovery believes fervently that sport is a unique force for social good and a tool for positive change. Sport has the potential to uplift the nation and improve wellbeing and health. This is why we feel that it’s important to applaud those leaders, sponsors, players and other contributors who do so much to encourage the wellbeing of South Africans through the promotion of sport. “The industry is growing so rapidly in South Africa, with these Awards celebrating that growth, and showcasing the incredible events, strategic thinking and world-class activations we’ve come to expect of the industry. Tonight’s shortlisters can be incredibly proud of what they’ve achieved over the past few months, especially considering the stiff competition they faced to make the shortlist.” Says James Monteith (Managing Director for the Sport Industry Group South Africa)
